Construction Update: October 30, 2014 VTrans would like to keep you informed of construction activities related to the following projects: · I-89 Bridges Project · Waterbury Roundabout · Bolton - Waterbury US 2 Reclaim Project · Northbound (NB) Off Ramp Signal Project · Stowe Street Sidewalk · Waitsfield-Moretown-Duxbury (VT 100 Preventive Maintenance Paving) Please also note: Town of Waterbury – Lincoln Street Closing Friday, October 31, 2014 – The Town of Waterbury will be closing Lincoln Street on Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to reclaim the road. Paving scheduled for next week will not require a full road closure. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. With several construction projects underway, motorists are reminded that the roads and highways around the Waterbury area are open and passable. At times, travel may be reduced to one lane in the construction areas with traffic control personnel maintaining traffic flow. Waterbury Roundabout Project AOT Project No: STP SGNL(18) Project Location: Intersection of Routes 100/2 in Waterbury. Week of November 3, 2014 Crews will be installing new sidewalk and traffic signs throughout the week. Work will also include miscellaneous clean-up activities around the construction area. Late week, the newly constructed Roundabout is scheduled to be fully functioning and open to traffic. Uniformed Traffic Officers and traffic signals will be used to assist motorists in navigating the Roundabout. Work will continue for the next few weeks before the project shuts down for the winter. Traffic – Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week. Bolton-Waterbury (US 2 Reclaim) AOT Project No: STP 2709(1) Project Location: Route 2 – From Parro’s Gun Shop in Waterbury west along Route 2 to just beyond Latham Trailer Sales in Bolton. Estimated completion is late October 2014. Saturday, November 1, 2014 – Crews will be paving in Bolton from Bolton Flats to the beginning of the project at the west end of Bolton Village, weather permitting. Paving will require alternating one-way traffic with flaggers assisting in maintaining traffic flow. Week of November 3, 2014 Crews will continue paving the final layer of pavement from the beginning of the project at the west end of Bolton Village to the east end of Bolton Flats, weather permitting. Driveway entrances and side road entrances will also be paved in this week. New gravel shoulder installation will follow paving operations. Traffic – Paving and shoulder work will require alternating one-way travel around the construction area. Traffic control personnel will be present to assist in maintaining traffic flow. Motorists should anticipate traffic delays. Please allow for extra time in your travel plans. Northbound Off Ramp Signal Project AOT Project No. NHG SGNL(43) Project Location: The Northbound Off Ramp Signal Project is located at Exit 10 at the intersection of I-89 and VT100. Week of November 3, 2014 The new traffic signal is undergoing a 30-day test period ending in mid-November. No work will be performed within the project area throughout the test period. Traffic – No traffic delays are expected. Stowe Street Sidewalk AOT Project No. STP EH10(20) Project Location: Stowe Street project limits extend from the Thatcher Brook School to Lincoln Street. Week of November 3, 2014 East Street to Route 100 – Crews will continue installing new sidewalk throughout the week. Patch paving is also scheduled to take place this week, weather permitting. Within each construction zone, travel will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic with flaggers maintaining traffic flow. Traffic: Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week. Waitsfield-Moretown-Duxbury (VT 100 Preventive Maintenance Paving) AOT Project No. STP SURF(39) Project Location: The Waitsfield – Moretown – Duxbury VT 100 Preventive Maintenance Paving project limits begin 2.4 miles north of Warren/Waitsfield town line (Fiddlers Green) and extend to the intersection of US 2 in Moretown for a distance of 12 miles. Week of November 3, 2014 Paving – Mid to late week, crews may pave on Route 100 in Waitsfield Village and Irasville. Paving on Route 17 is also included in the paving plans for the week. All paving is weather dependent. Paving operations will require alternating one-way traffic within the construction zone. Traffic control personnel will be present to maintain traffic flow. Traffic: Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week. I-89 Bridges Project AOT Project No. IM 089-2(43) Project Location: The I-89 Bridges Project is located at Exit 10 on I-89 in Waterbury. Week of November 3, 2014 I-89 Crossover Work – Crews will continue construction of the crossovers on I-89 in preparation for the bridge construction in 2015. Daily closures of the passing lanes through the Exit 10 area of I-89 will be required during daytime hours. Stowe Street – Crews will continue construction of utility duct banks on Stowe Street under the I-89 bridges. Travel will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic with flaggers maintaining traffic flow. Motorists using Exit 10 on ramps are advised to use extreme caution and yield upon merging into traffic. With daily passing lane closures through the Exit 10 NB and SB area, thru traffic will be restricted to use the travel lanes only. Speed limits have been reduced to 50 mph through the construction zones on I-89 NB and SB. Traffic: Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week. Please focus on safety when driving through the construction work zone. As of October 1st, it is against the law to use a hand held cell phone while driving.
