Construction of the third Columbus Hospital commenced in 1929 and was completed in May 1930. This hospital faced 2nd Avenue North between 16 and 17th Streets. The fourth and newest Columbus Hospital located at the corner of 4th Street and 15th Avenue South admitted its first patients in May 1978. My mom is a 1952 graduate of the Columbus School of Nursing. The student nurses lived in the second Columbus Hospital, which was converted to a dorm-like building. Her room was the old surgery....oh, the stories she does tell!
