Contact: Julie Banks Citi Performing Arts Center [email protected] 617-532-1247 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Emmy Award Winning “COMMUNITY AUDITIONS - STAR OF THE DAY” Returns for its 45th Season Staged Live at Boston’s Strand Theatre Sunday, June 22, 2014 -- Open to the public -- Boston (June 16, 2014) New England’s own “Community Auditions – Star of the Day” returns for its 45th Season. The show kicks off the 2014-2015 season with a live taping at the historic Strand Theatre, this Sunday, June 22 from 10AM to 6PM. This season promises to be spectacular! New host Billy Costa, from KISS 108, will be joined by a variety of Boston’s favorite entertainment personalities, as well as international recording artist, David Osmond. The public is invited to participate as part of the live theatre audience - cheering on their favorite performers and even signing up for the chance to compete on a future program. Before there was American Idol, America’s Got Talent, or The Voice…New England’s rising stars had Community Auditions – Star of the Day, the longest-running entertainment TV show in history. Friends, family and the public are invited to be part of this long-standing tradition and take part in a live taping of six episodes of Community Auditions at the iconic Strand Theatre, in Dorchester, this Sunday, June 22nd. Guests will see competitors perform and be rated by a rotating panel of celebrity judges. In order to pick the “Star of the Day”, remember, “Your vote STILL holds the key!” Audience participation will help determine the final winners. This Sunday’s judges will include; Magic 106.7’s Candy O’Terry, Farrenheit’s Charlie Farren, Sib Hashian of the band Boston, Jessica from Rhode Island’s 92 PRO-FM, and comedian and film star Steve Sweeney. Doors open at 10 AM, for Sunday’s taping of Community Auditions – Star of the Day, at the Strand Theatre. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. The Strand Theatre is located at 543 Columbia Road in Boston’s Uphams Corner neighborhood. Episodes of Community Auditions – Star of the Day, recorded at the Strand Theatre on Sunday, June 22nd, will be broadcast throughout New England. Strand Theatre The newly renovated Strand Theatre is celebrated as one of the last “working” vintage neighborhood theatres in America.
