Contact dermatitis has been caused by the foliage and seeds of Delphinium spp. The plants also contains many toxic alkaloids and is highly toxic if ingested. Symptoms may include burning of mouth and lips, numbness of throat; intense vomiting, muscular weakness and spasms, weak pulse, nausea, depression, paralysis of respiratory system, convulsions. If eaten in large quantities, death may occur in less than 6 hours.
