Cannabis is listed as a prohibited substance under the Commonwealth’s Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons Note: Cannabis possession was decriminalised in the ACT. A police officer can currently issue an offence notice to a person instead of prosecution, if the officer reasonably believes the person is in possession of less than 50 grams of cannabis. The penalty is 1 penalty unit ($140). Robyn Lambley NT Health Minister Email: [email protected] Phone:08 8928 6534 Response: No David Davis VIC Health Minister Email: [email protected] Phone:03 9096 8561 Response: In short, the answer is no.The use of cannabis for medicinal or recreational purposes is illegal in Victoria and other states because evidence shows it causes harm to both cannabis users and the broader community. The Victorian Government has no plans to change its policy in this area. Jillian Skinner NSW Health Minister Email:[email protected] Phone:(02) 9228 5229 Response: While in Tamworth in April, I met with Daniel Haslam and his family. I listened to Daniel’s story and gave him my sympathy and support. I explained the NSW Government’s stance on decriminalisation of crude cannabis, as well as NSW Health concerns about cannabis usage and the health side effects. In line with the views of the majority of pain and palliative care specialists, the NSW Government does not support the use of unregulated crude cannabis products for medicinal purposes as the quality and safety of these products cannot be guaranteed. There are safe and effective medications currently available for most of the symptoms and conditions that medicinal cannabis is said to be effective in treating.” Jack Snelling SA Health Minister Phone: 08 8463 6270 Email: [email protected] Response: No https://au.news.yahoo/sunday-night/features/a/24234043/medical-marijuana-contact-your-ministers/
