Contained in the Acknowledgements of a doctoral thesis to be defended this Thursday in Oulu University was this: In a different but equally important area, I am very grateful to Uncle Jacob Matthan for helping me adapt to the local culture and adjust to life in Oulu, as well as for giving me moral support in so many other ways during my research and writing time in Finland. I am also thankful to Auntie Annikki Matthan for taking the time to review and proof edit the Finnish abstract for my dissertation. Together, they have become my extended family in Oulu. Jacob is accustomed to being thanked over the years by several researchers, but this was my first time. It is a great feeling. Coming from a non-Indian and a non-Finn, both of us were thoroughly chuffed. Thank you, Cheryl, from both of us. It was our pleasure!
