Continued : Yuyu Zhang and Sreetama Sarkar, why do you think common people do not have the power to think and judge properly? Everyone has that power, it is only that people think themselves to be weak and are too reluctant to apply their power of judgement -- I do not know why. In fact, the common people is the source of power. If everyone tries to put a little bit of thought, all of our lives can improve a lot overnight. Actually, I have nothing against believing in some God or Supreme Power which will protect you in your hard times -- if such belief gives you strength. It may be the only source of hope left for a person who has lost everything. One can have that faith without belonging to a religious group. In fact, as I said before, I believed in such Supreme Power till my teenage and prayed before it in my difficult times. Now it is more difficult for me realising that actually no such power exists and it is foolish to believe that some God will come and save you in your utmost danger -- I know that we are on our own, and so if we cannot help ourselves in our danger, no supernatural power will. In a way, this has its plus points. Otherwise, people just become complacent and think -- okay someday some Savior is coming to help us and so we do not have to take any action but pray. Now the main reason why I think such a faith in supremer power is unreasonable is the following: Why will that God reward my praying and not those millions of people dying everyday in Middle-East and Africa and elsewhere? Then does God revel in killing people and enjoy seeing them suffering? One may argue-- people are punished for their sins, which is a completely ridiculous argument. I am sure the people who have faced the most inhuman form of sufferings prayed to God as faithfully as their counterparts who did not suffer like them. I do not want to elaborate on this, as I hope I have been able to explain myself to some extent. To end it -- I am ready to believe in such Supreme Power again, if it can prove that it is their to save people form sufferings ;-)
