Continuing on the tradition started by the Senior Mens team, we have 2 game ball recipients for the Lady Raiders first round match, for the Gridiron Victoria season, against the Melbourne Uni Chargers. It was a game that saw the Lady Raiders completely outclass their opposition. Firstly, the Offensive recipient was #42 Alyssa Stewart. In a game where the offense seemed to move the ball at will, Alyssa was at the heart of that. The Fullback was rumbling around the ground having over 85 yards from the line of scrimmage on 25 offensive possessions and reaching the end zone for 2 two-point conversions. She also lined up at Linebacker and managed to record a sack as well. Secondly, the Defensive recipient was #88 Gabrielle Weldon. Gabby, a receiver converted linebacker, had 15 tackles with 10 of those for a loss and in the passing game she recorded 4 QB sacks and 1 pass breakup. Her game was a true indication of how dominant the defense for the Lady Raiders were. The Raiders defense were in clear control - not allowing one first down! Great by performances by Alyssa and Gabby - and all the #LadyRaiders in general. #HarderBetterFasterStronger
