Continuing with my review of the Golden Decade of Music 1965-1974, where I am selecting the artists alphabetically and playing selections of their songs I liked or found influential from that Golden Decade. I am now moving into the D’s and will play a few from Neil Diamond, an American singer-songwriter with a career that began in the 1960s. Diamond has sold over 125 million records worldwide, making him one of the worlds best-selling artists of all time. Neil Diamond has had 10 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. The next song I am selecting is Cherry, Cherry, a song written by Neil Diamond that was arranged by Artie Butler and produced by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. It was issued as a 45 single in 1966 and became Diamonds first big hit, reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October 1966. Ellie Greenwich came up with the chorus and can be heard as the prominent background voice. https://youtube/watch?v=hlcuAsgc5-c
