Continuing with my review of the Golden Decade of Music 1965-1974, where I am selecting the artists alphabetically and playing selections of their songs I liked or found influential from that Golden Decade. I am currently in the Cs and will play a few from the next artist on my list, Joe Cocker. Cocker is an English rock and blues singer, who came to popularity in the 1960s, and is known for his gritty voice, his spasmodic body movement in performance and his cover versions of popular songs. The next song selected is Cry Me a River is a popular American torch song, written by Arthur Hamilton first published in 1953. In 1970, British rocker Joe Cocker made the chart with an upbeat rock rendition on the album, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, taking the song to #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. https://youtube/watch?v=wKNJj6MsGfI
