Contra Krugman, Europe shows benefit of lean government The great thing about Paul Krugman is that you just need to let him tie the rhetorical noose with which he hangs himself. The funniest example is when he asked a group of Canadians in a live forum whether they liked their government health care, and it blew up in his face. Another good one was when I showed (in the final section of this article) the failure of two of Krugman’s empirical tests of the Keynesian demand-side explanation. In the current post, I’ll show once again that Krugman’s own choices -- this time regarding austerity in Europe -- –illustrate the bankruptcy (both figuratively and literally) of Keynesian fiscal analysis.
