Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars captain Samuel Opoku Nti has been handed the interim Chief Executive portfolio of the porcupine warriors, the club’s legend has been told he is rather to continue his Administrative role at the club’s secretariat pending an official announcement from Kotoko patron, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the way forward for the club. Like Opoku Nti, the club’s accountant Charles Opoku and beleaguered head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani have been given the Asantehene’s blessing to continue their specific roles after a meeting at Manhyia on Tuesday. Coach Dramani was at the exit door of the club after outgoing Executive Chairman Dr. Sarpong and his management informed him of a decision to part ways over Kotoko’s CAF Champions League group stage failure despite leading the club to a league title and an FA Cup second-place finish in the just ended football season. The new development suggests that the K.K Sarpong-led 11-member board has been dissolved barely 24 hours after they met to appoint former Ghana Bar Association President Lawyer Paul Adu-Gyamfi as interim Executive Chairman following Dr. Sarpong’s resignation.
