Dear Floyd Mayweather, 50 Cent... Instead of writing some long - TopicsExpress

Dear Floyd Mayweather, 50 Cent... Instead of writing some long drawn out letter to you two about my feelings (regarding the issues between you), I figured I would just send a little note and request. How about both of you donate $750,000 to provide t-shirts and supplies for the protesters down in #Ferguson? Let me tell you why: As we are out here marching, we dont appear uniform. Then, there are people out here SELLING t-shirts for $10 and up! I am not knocking their hustle BUT I am knocking the fact that this is turning into a hustle. W. Florissant street looks like a flea market at times. Food vending, liquor drinking, music playing, arguing. The fact is that people want to be out here but it is hard to be. And because everyone is dressed different, lost at times is what should be our OBVIOUS motive and reason for being out here. Also, school has finally started and the cost of fighting this fight is hard on low to no-income families. I dont have to stress the importance of this fight to either of you because I know that both of you know all too well how hard it is to be a young black man in these streets. Money or not. Platinum artist or not. Youre black and it (your blackness) matters, whether you impose it or exist in the exposure that comes because of it. Resources are needed down here. Black resources are REQUIRED down here! We need BLACK leadership and response, corporately! Photo-ops and selfies arent going to cut it. I have stood out in this streets in the middle of the night (mind you, I am not from #Ferguson) for the sake of there being legs on the ground. I do it because I myself have a 9 year old son and I know all too well how rough it is in these streets, let alone to have to be clouded with the reality that the police are just as much of a threat! I came down on a one-way ticket to offer ANYTHING I have to my brothers and sisters down here. Earlier today I heard an argument between a group of people that was so impassioned and strong and loud. It seemed to be so intense and necessary, so I walked across the street to hear what the people were talking about... The argument was about the two of you. It was about the two of you getting into the ring. It was about which one of you was the realest nigga. I yelled out, Are yall serious, and walked away. That sat on my heart up until I began to write this. Hey, maybe you guys are doing something behind the scenes here... If that is the case, Thank you! If its not, wed greatly appreciate it. We need you. -@seethepoet
