Contribute to a Memorial Fund to Assist Family of Christine Calderon Dear Chamber Members and Hollywood Community: Many of us in the Hollywood community have been deeply touched by the death of Christine Darlene Calderon on Tuesday, June 18th, here in the heart of Hollywood. This was a tragic and senseless killing. We have been contacted by many who have asked if there is anything we can do to help the family. It is our understanding that Christine’s family, in addition to the grief and pain they are experiencing, is also reeling under the burden of organizing a memorial service and funeral. They have access to a state-sponsored crime victim’s fund which will cover basic funeral expenses. However, they are encumbered by a number of additional expenses. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation Board has voted to establish a “Memorial Fund” to assist the family with the costs associated with a reception, transporting of family members, and flowers and incidentals, and has pledged $500 toward the fund. The funeral is planned for Saturday, July 6, 2013, and with the help of the Hollywood community, we are sure that an appropriate memorial can be held.
