Controversial Bill scale through in the Senate The Nigerian senators yesterday voted for a very controversial bill which I wants to bring to notice of human activist, civil activist and the human rights commission. The bill if sign in to law will allowed the female gender to get married even at the age of one year provided the parents of the girl are willing to accept the money of any man willing to carry out such idiotic act with no conscience like senator Sani Yerima Bakura of Zamfara state that recently married a 13 year old girl even though he is over sixty-four years. It is surprising to note that the Nigerian stupid, selfish and confused senators voted against the bill during the first reading with reason that is a complete violation of human the 1999 constitution as amended, which stated categorically that every Nigerian is considered matured only when he/she attends the age of 18 years. This implies that, anybody below the age of 18 is a minor and as such can not carry out certain obligations like marriage, sign contract, vote for and contest election, can not be taken to prison, can not be a company promoter, can not be summon before any court of law etc When senator Sani Yerima bitterly complaint about the insistence of senate on 18 years of girl marriage, the confused senator met yesterday again and reverse the decision to say that a girl can marry even at the age of one if she or the parents wishes. This means the 18years maturity clause is now removed from the Nigerian constitution and a minor is at liberty to vote and contest election, go to prison, contest a case in the court, be a promoter etc However, the stupid Nigerian senators should be reminded that marriage is a union that involves the mutual consent of a man and a woman and as such a minor does not have a reasonable sense of negotiation to consent to such issues. Every body must vote against this bill, please vote now
