Conversation About Race Held at Lifetree Café An open conversation about racial understanding will take place at Lifetree Café on Wednesday, January 14th at 7pm The program, titled “What Your Black Friend Wants You to Know: The Conversation About Race No One Is Having,” includes a film featuring honest insights from black Americans about their experience with race. “White people—the dominant culture—think the country has moved on,” says Anthony Smith, a black pastor and facilitator of the “Musings of a Postmodern Negro” blog. “But there’s still an underlying racial narrative in this country. Stuff is still happening.” Lifetree cafe meets in the Activities building at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church. Coffee, soft drinks and snacks are served beginning at 6:30 - the discussion begins at 7. All ages are welcome (6th grade thru 102) and there is child care and activities for children birth thru 5th grade. Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting. Call 803-317-3009 with any questions.
