Cool FMs Gareth Stewart gears up for Bishopscourt. Ballynahinch and District Motor Club will be joined on the McGrady Insurance Stage Rally tomorrow, 15th March, by Cool FM breakfast show host, Gareth Stewart. Gareth, a keen motorsport fan and all round adrenaline junky, will get a behind the scenes look at how the first round of the Northern Ireland Stage Rally Championship comes together, as well as getting the chance to head out onto the stages in one of the course cars. With almost 80 crews on the entry list, Gareth will be in good company when he takes to the stages. First off the line will be current NI Stage Rally Champion Derek McGarrity, who will debut his newly acquired ex Dani Sordo and Chris Atkinson 01B Mini WRC, ahead of next months Circuit of Ireland. Derek told us, I always look forward to this event, I really enjoy driving the Bishopscourt circuit. The new format the club introduced last year was great, it worked really well. I havent driven this new car as much as I would have like to but well give it a go and see how we get on. A fierce battle is inevitable as Draperstowns Derek McGeehan will blast off the start line only seconds later in a similar Mini WRC. BADMC will also be welcoming back a display of some rarely seen, yet historically interesting machinery. Rumour has it the infamous Audi Quattro and Ford RS200 will be amongst some of the cars taking to the stages. Action kicks off at 10am, make sure youre there, this is one not to be missed.
