Cool footage , literally ,cold. Reminds me of when I got my Alpha Cat in the winter . Got off work one morning ,worked nights at Safeway ,and a storm was blowing pretty good . I looked at the 2 guys I worked with ,as we watched the trees bowing ,asked if they wanted to go out . SURE , so we went home ,put on our wet suits and met down at Juanita beach . Put boat in water and proceeded to sail out into the gale winds ,none of us had much experience or we wouldnt be out there . One guy had crewed in a race too Hawaii on big boat . I had just bought this thing and wanted some fun so tried flying the hull . Well one of the bad parts of the design of the Alpha Catamarans was the v shaped bow , it tends to park itself when you barry the nose in a wave and over she went tail first then laid on her side other hull 10 feet up . We got the cat righted but before we could all climb onto the up wind side it went over the other way with the wind then totally upside down . No way could we get that long mast up with a 10 ft beam and we rode those waves up n down in that storm . Thought we were going to sink and maybe drown out there . Well someone or maybe more were watching these young idiots and called the police marine guys . They came out and rescued us ,drug the boat back to shore ,upside down and we were cold but grateful . Busted every batten in that cambered sail though but got new ones in Santa Barbara and toured the little plant , fun place to work I thought but got to be messy with all that fiberglass . Loved Santa Barbara too ,cool place away from LA .
