Cops to challan cars with fancy plates TNN | The traffic police began a special drive on Thursday against the use of defective numberplates. Those challaned under this will have to appear before the concerned court of law to pay the fine that can go up to Rs 2000. Such persons will be required to change their numberplates before they appear in court. "It has been observed that vehicles in Delhi are found with numberplates where the registration number is either not clearly legible or the numberplate is fancy, soiled or full of stickers and images. In some cases, even the font and colour of the text differs from the usual. Some have numberplates of different shapes and sizes. Because of this in cases of accidents and crimes, vehicles managed to flee without their numbers getting noted down for legal action," said Anil Shukla, additional CP (traffic).
