Copy paste from poster Mii9000, Yuzuru Hanyu Forum. I have no credit. --------------------------- zassi.net/mag/WGENDAI/20141220/top/ I read the article in here since many people said it was a good one despite the nature of these kinds of magazines. It was an interview of Brain. (A Rough, partial summary) -Answering to the question why did Yuzuru fascinate people even when he fell 5 times?, Brian said his passion for FS really makes his skating special. Brian himself is fascinated with Yuzu. -Brian doesnt think he has a special skill to coach and produce OG champions. Yuzu is very talented to begin with and he already had developed his talent with the help of his Japanese coaches, trainers, his family and various other people before coming to CC. He just made sure for Yuzu to be in a right environment where he could further improve what he already has. -Some parts discuss how they trained Yuzu so far (I think you guys already know, for example Yuzu’s basic SS practice at CC.) When Brian told Yuzu how important that skill is, he immediately agreed and said that he would work on that over times. That suppleness is his virtue, Brian said. -Brian thinks Yuzu’s progress in technical aspect led him to mental maturity. Also having Javier, who has a very different personality helped Yuzu to loosen up a bit. -They (Brian and Yuzu) have their goal set to win the next Olympic gold. -Yuzu has recovered and been training now, so Brian expects him to give the performances everyone has been waiting for. But they want us to understand that the GPF is a pass point, so even if he does not do well there, he hopes that we won’t worry too much but consider him being in the process of his evolution. -Brian wants Yuzu to improve his English further. He knows when Yuzu responds with his “Yeah”, that is the sign that he did not understand what he said (because Yuzu repeats the same mistake after that), so when Yuzu says “Yeah”, he calls him and explains more. -He also wants Yuzu to learn to say “No”. After Sochi, many people wanted to be associated with Yuzu, to have business with him and since he is nice, Yuzu tried to deal with all of them. Sometimes it interfered his training. If he wants to win in Pyeongchang, he has to learn to say “No” and set enough time aside for himself. -He wants Yuzu to enjoy being a star and to win the gold again. He thinks Yuzu can do it and he is ready to support him with all he can do.
