((Copying and pasting my rant from Hetalia Therapy Clinic because I can. I love him. Hes one of my favourite characters, and I think hes quite well-developed and has an interesting personality. Hes smart, sassy, a bit selfish but also tough as nails and extremely resilient. To me, Poland is the kind of person who doesnt bother much with most things because he knows he can put like, 50% of effort into something and still do great, and so he leaves the dirty work for other countries like Lithuania. However, that doesnt stop him from showing his initiative, intelligence and strength. During the Hetalia 2010 Bloodbath he sensed danger and warned Lithuania (Though Toris took no heed and got attacked), and I doubt that I would need to rant about his history. Alright, fine, I will summarise it. Try being partitioned more than three times, which means having your territory split between hypocritical, ambitious and greedy countries who would have no right to interfere with your business and politics if the world was fair and square. Try having your culture oppressed, ridiculed and your language outlawed. Try having to experience a genocide and then somehow everyone forgets that you suffered in favour of the other victim. THEN, try moving to a new land to find hope only to realise that youre mocked and ridiculed even more so due to language barriers, lack of what your new neighbours deem proper education and stereotypes. Try RETURNING to the oppressive regime under one of the hypocritical countries. Only this time, they are twisted, insane, obsessively loyal and are no longer aware of how their actions hurt those they care about! Any lesser being would have killed themselves out of despair, given up or ceased to care. But did Poland do any of that? NO. He kept his head afloat, gritted his teeth, worked hard and, in the end, kicked their asses and showed the world what Poles are made of! Should I remind you that Poland was the ONLY COUNTRY EVER to successfully capture Moscow, Russia, for 2 years?! People make jokes about the deadly Russian Winter and how France and Germany failed to invade Russia because of that but what about Poland? In that aspect, Poland beats its fellow major EU nations. Moreover, Polands probably really talented when it comes to music and dancing. Traditional Polish dancing is pleasant to watch, and combined with modern elements is awesome *cough Us Slavs cough*. Besides, dont forget that FREDERIC CHOPIN was Polish. So was Marie Curie, arguably one of the best scientists who lived and was also a woman! So Poland would be adept regarding music and science, wouldnt he? The fandom needs to stop seeing him as a weak (it was shown multiple times in canon that he is, in fact, NOT WEAK), selfish (his selfishness has toned down quite a lot and thats great considering what hes been through. Know what thats called? CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT) and a girly crossdresser (its only a hobby, and besides he doesnt really crossdress that much anymore). Oh, and by the way, Moscow wasnt the only capital he captured. Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, Minsk, the capital of Belarus, Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.... He also has a love-hate relationship with Prussia and is best friends with Hungary, not Lithuania. THEY HAVE AN ENTIRE DAY DEDICATED TO THEIR FRIENDSHIP. So yeah. In conclusion, Poland is a true badass who deserves our respect.
