Cornish pastys like I make them. There are a lot of Recipes for them but this is how my mom Made them. 1pound of Beef Sirloin or you can use Ground Beef. dice the meat 3 Med Potatoes peeled and chopped. 1 teaspoon salt, you can add onion if you like 1/4 teaspoon Pepper, mix and set aside. For the Pastry, 4 cups of all purpose Flour,2 teaspoons salt ,pinch of baking powder. 1 cup shortening. 2 table spoons Butter 2/3 cups water. 1 egg slightly beaten. 1 tablespoon heavy cream. in a large bowl add flour, salt and baking powder. cut in shortening .Gradually add water tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Place dough on a floured surface. Divide dough into 12 pieces roll each in 6 inch all the way circles. moisten edges with water. place 1/2 cup of mix on 1 side of the circle fold over and seal with a fork. cut a few slits in them. combine egg with cream and beat it, brush over the top of them. preheat oven to 400.place pastrys on a cookie sheet bake for reduce heat to 350 and continue to bake for 40- 45 mins until golden Brown. as I said people have many diff ways to make them I like this 1 best. some people add peas
