Corruption 1. The teacher out there is charging money for extra classes and refusing to teach well so the students would be forced to attend the extra-classes and he/she would make money 2. They call it protocol, but qualified students are marginalized and the sons and daughters of the affluent are given admission into the various tertiary institutions using a brown envelop as a conduit 3. A student told his/her parents the school fees were 1700 cedis when it was 1200cedis. Under the guise of I can’t ask them for everything I will need 4. A lecturer, tutor or demonstrator may produce a book and failure to buy means automatic failure when there are better materials freely available on the internet. The root of it is money 5. An electronics vendor would remove genuine parts of items and replace them with dying or weak or fake parts which would break down soon. The vendor would then sell the parts differently for money. 6. Passports and birth-certificates can be produced in 3-days if you would spend 300cedis or more but it would take you 1yr if you buy a regular form @ 50 cedis. Are they not paid to deliver that service?? 7. Go to a health facility with NHIS. There are long winding queues of people waiting for their folders but those who can grease palms get their folders fast. 8. Driving license. You know it right? Without consideration of your exam performance, if you can lubricate palms, you are free to bear a driver’s license. 9. Some* of the MTTU police still takes the 1cedi 10. If the politicians we are blaming, grew up through these systems and structures, would they be different? Train up the child the way he should go and when he is old he would never depart from it. The fact is corruption begins with the little things we do and gradually escalates to the terrible heights we hear off. The change is not in those who have become corrupted. The change dwells in the upcoming generation to have an unwavering moral principles and exhibit high level of integrity. Just a few friend. Feel free to comment.
