Cough up for sick kids: FAIRIES, superheroes and cartoon characters will descend on Transperth buses, trains and stations on March 19 as part of Radio Lollipop’s Uniform Free Day in a quest to raise more than $100,000 for sick WA kids. It’s the 19th year Transperth has been involved with Uniform Free Day, which is Radio Lollipop’s main source of revenue. Radio Lollipop is a charity that provides a fun live radio broadcasting service to children in hospitals around the State. Public Transport Authority managing director Mark Burgess said the event raised a record-breaking $103,000 last year. “This year we want the public’s help to top that amount,” he said. “We’re immensely proud to have been involved with such an excellent cause for almost two decades, and are urging our passengers to dig deep and donate. “Transperth staff will be out in force at Esplanade, Perth and Perth Underground stations between 6.30am and 8.30am on Wednesday, March 19, rattling yellow tins ready to collect your donations. “Many drivers on our buses around Perth and some regional centres will also be dressing up in fantastic costumes, and all of our bus drivers will be collecting cash donations on the day.” A portion of the funds raised this year will help fund the local Radio Lollipop team’s new studio, which will be in the under-construction Perth Children’s Hospital, due to open in 2015. dlvr.it/53l679 #NEWSANDVIEWSLocalNews (inMyCommunity) #perth #perthnews
