Could you live on $14.85 an hour as has been described as the living wage for Brantford-Brant? A lot of those following this page do, barely. Employment is no longer a guarantee of a poverty free life with cost of living. In Canada more than 1.8 million live below the poverty line and locally about 2700 per month are helped by the food bank. A growing number of poor are workers and seniors who have worked for most of their lives. Add to those numbers how many of us are just a pay check away from the poverty line - it really provides a lot of food for thought about what a healthy, working economy means to those who actually live here.
