Couldnt go to sleep because Ive been watching The Sixties Freedom movement special on CNN. Its still on & when I tell you that it moves me to tears, it is the truth. When I watch the actual footage of black people being beaten, hosed, spit on, degraded, hung...& When I see political leaders publicly denounce integration on televised forums, followed by racial slurs for a nation to witness, it boggles my mind that some behave they way the do. Courage...That is what those men & women had...To openly accept the violence theyd be treated to while conducting a Freedom Ride. Martin Luther King wasnt one person...He was hundreds of thousands of persons my age that were formulating voices to change the landscape of our (at that time, grim) future. How dare our mothers & fathers allow us to walj around with our pants down, spewing words that stem from racist origins? How dare we murmer the words that reduce our women to a animals? IM TAKING MY ASS TO BED BEFORE I GET STARTED.
