Councillor Pat Knight Reports; Doncaster’s Tourist Information Centre has been honoured with a top award at a glitzy ceremony on Monday night. Staff from the TIC, on High Street, picked up the Visitor Information award at Welcome To Yorkshire’s White Rose Awards. The Doncaster TIC team submitted their entry for the award earlier this year and they were subsequently visited by a mystery shopper, who shortlisted them. A judging panel then decided they deserved the top award. Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones said: “As part of the judging process Welcome to Yorkshire sent a mystery shopper into our tourist information centre. “It’s obvious that they were impressed by the quality of unique local goods on sale as well as the friendliness and passion for Doncaster shown by our staff. “Doncaster’s tourism profile is growing with great access with new attractions like the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and events such as the St Leger Festival Week.
