Count the cost. We use this expression and philosophy a lot. If I decide to perform a task, will it be worth the pain afterwards? Last evening, as Dave was at work, I decided to wash my kitchen down, including putting all my utensils plus the utensil holder in the dishwasher while I washed down the tiles and appliances too. I like to get in behind and underneath everything too. I couldnt do this all at once. I divided the task into two, with a long rest between. I changed the tablecloth, wiped down the chairs etc. Today, yes I have more pain but Im coping. I counted the cost of it against the wonderful sense of accomplishment I feel today when I walk into my spotless kitchen. I love a clean and tidy home, it makes me feel really good. Now I know I cant always do this. Thats not realistic. Some days my pain is too high or my fatigue too debilitating. But for today, Im happy. The cost was worth it.
