Counting Macronutrients is the key to successful fat loss. Just simply reducing calories isnt enough. First off you have to make sure youre not in severe caloric deficit. If youre training is hard and youre under eating, good luck sustaining both nutrition and training. Once you establish a comfortable caloric deficit ITS REALLY IMPORTANT TO COUNT YOUR MACRONUTRIENTS! Your goal is fatloss, so youre trying to spare muscle. Muscle is extremely metabolic and requires calories. So to hold on to your muscle you need protein and alot of it. From quality sources such as lean chicken, fish , lean beef, eggs, protein shake. These are complete proteins that are a must if youre trying build, maintain or reduce bodyfat. Then you need carbohydrates. Yes carbohydrates help you lose bodyfat. The amount you consume is determined based off training and body composition. No matter what you need them and plenty of them. Long periods of low carbs leads to disaster. Your body will start using protein as energy. You dont want that....for all the reasons I already explained. Long periods of low carbs and your body stops producing leptin. Without going into the science, just know this no leptin production NO FAT LOSS. This why most of you can shed 1lb. You been on low carbs so long and your leptin levels are severly low. Then theres fat. Fat is also important to fatloss . Without plenty of fats forget about shedding bodyfat! They also regulate your hormones which is also critical to fat loss. Fat loss is a science. Its much deeper than just reducing calories and training. For all the reasons above and plenty more are the reasons you should be counting macronutrients. Just reducing calories and training, without counting macronutrients can be frustrating when you stall , and cause you to strip valuable muscle (which will slow down your metabolism) ..... Fat loss is a process theres no quick fix or gimmicks. Just ask someone with low bodyfat and they will tell you fatloss isnt short term, its a long term lifestyle investment that has a great return if youre willing to do what needs to be done.... # SCIENCE
