Counting the Cost: Jimmy Gathu made the Fanya Hesabu advert - TopicsExpress

Counting the Cost: Jimmy Gathu made the Fanya Hesabu advert popular by bringing actual costs of some habits that we rarely think about. I have just been looking around our region, and thinking about the costs the region has been forced to pay due to having DAFT leaders. Yes, leaders with questionable academic backgrounds, whose ability to understand implications of their actions was, and is below average. The interesting thing about the DAFT leaders is that everyone, even the PHD holders, that follow them has to throw his or her brain to the gutter in order to follow them. Uganda was known as the Pearl of Africa, until some Semi-Literate Soldier known as Idi Amin took power. The havoc caused by Amin to Ugandas Economy runs into billions and billions of Dollars. Just across the border, guy called Salva Kiir somehow managed to get himself within striking distance of power despite having never gone to school. When Dr. Garang died, Kiir became President. Just last week, the guy wanted todo something similar to what Amin did in the 1970s- expelling the people running the economy with the belief that the locals will benefit from the expulsion. Finally, Kenya has its fair share of problems by having someone that is challenged in terms of reasoning. Having such a character is perhaps the worst tragedy any country can have. There is a very good reason why developed countries have systems that weed out people with questionable academic backgrounds. Not that it is discriminatory, but prudent. There are good reasons why the system is set in such a way that only brilliant people become Medical Doctors. Because the role played by that person can lead to death or life for others. Kenya is paying a very heavy price for having someone whose failure in school is well documented, and legendary. When we finally do the cost have having the destructive nature of Railas politics- I am sure that the cost will run in billions of dollars. Apart from keeping the country in constant mourning mood, the Raila brand of politics thrives on hate and fear mongering. Just like a Witch Doctor, Raila thrives on the gullibility of his followers to remain relevant. He thrives on the Waganga principle of You are poor because your brother is rich- so you have to hate your brother in order to be rich. Instead of allowing Kenya to settle, and let President Uhuru deliver his first five years- Raila has kicked off yet another round of emotionally draining campaigns. What is not known to Kenyans is that the recent rounds of campaigns are just a ploy by Raila to keep his debtors at bay- since he was heavily funded by many people- and gave out several promises. For instance the owner of one the countrys leading media houses poured money and resources to the Raila team, and apparently he wants his money back. Many others are demanding back their money. So to keep them at bay- Raila and his inner team have decided to give promises that the Uhuru Regime would collapse, or be terminated by ICC. But instead, Uhuru seems to be getting stronger and stronger. The Raila strategy is not just annoying, but very very costly to the economy. If the real costs are calculated- I can assure you that it runs into billions.
