Couple of points on the companies that just closed, and the responses people have had. 1/ Jumping in and telling someone to join your deal when theyve not digested the fact that their business family just split up is tacky. Be a bit classier than that. However... 2/ The number of people getting capital out of making posts about what vultures Direct Sales people are for offering a solution to people whove just lost their business is even more crass, AND it stinks of lack mentality. You may score points with it today, because misery loves company, but the fact that you encouraged a whole industry to be too chicken to offer a solution to someone in need is a really bad message to send to your downline. Your team reads what you post. If you coach them on the importance of helping people with your business opportunity, and then create a witch hunt when people do so, your business will fail and youll have nobody to blame but yourself, because youve been a total hypocrite. 3/ If you were in one of the companies that closed, pause. Dont let the people urging you to jump now sway you. Dont let the people telling you that youll be cheating on your lover (seriously. I read this) if you find a new home too quick sway you. If youve been in your company for years and you see it as your home, youre likely to do the same with the next place. Do due diligence so you can find out that the home you choose is stable enough not to crash on you. Its OK to take your time, and its OK to go with your gut and jump straight away. Whatever you choose to do is OK. 4/ If you are with a company that just closed, youre not just making a decision for yourself. If youre a leader, its probably going to be WAY less stressful for your tribe if you lead all of them to another home. If you hesitate too long with that decision, theyll pick another of the leaders in your former company and follow them. Most people are followers rather than leaders, so what you do now will determine your future income in profound ways. In other words, even though theres no right or wrong length of time to ponder, you really should be pondering with a purpose. In other words, dont spend all your time nursing your wounds, because whomever moves first from those companies and finds a firm home, will make a fortune. Whomever nurses wounds longest will lose a fortune. Weighed against that, of course, is the fact that you must do enough research to know youre leading people somewhere good. I know. Its a freaking impossible situation. You have my empathy, but Im giving you the facts. If I was in your position, I would actually not nurse my wounds for a second. Id procrastinate on wound nursing, because Im not an employee-mindset type. Im an entrepreneur. Ive done this before, and I dont waste a SECOND to get first mover advantage for the people I care about. I would immediately draw up a plan. Id put together the non-negotiables that I have and my team has. Id be in constant contact with my team via group calls and webinars to get group consensus on my plan, and would put NO PRESSURE on anyone from my former team to join me in my new home. I would then look at the fast start plan and present a plan to my team on how they could all max out the comp plan as fast as possible because their biggest ASSET is that theyre leaving a company where EVERYONE is leaving, and will be looking to others in the company to join elsewhere. For the .001% of you who are truly wise, what just happened to you when you lost your organisation is the point that you will look back on as a multi-millionaire and give THANKS for, because it will be the turning point of your entire life. For the rest of you... dont take action yet. The leaders will, and you can join them when youre ready. Whomever you are in the scheme of things, I wish you a happy landing somewhere new. Be kind to yourself. Eat well. Then dust yourself off, and get entrepreneurial, because thats who you are.
