Course Recommendation! If you are a 3rd or 4th year student and want to do something a little different before graduation, consider taking RLG426 Religion in the Public Sphere, Service-Learning Course. In this course, students complete a 40-hour service-learning placement somewhere in the city of Toronto, where religion is operative in the public sphere. This year, were planning on placements in a City Councillors office, an MPPs office, at the Ontario Human Rights Commission, UofTs Multifaith Centre, The Canadian Council of Churches, and KARIOS Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, among others! There are still spaces available. The class meets on (certain) Thursdays, 10am-12pm to talk about students placement experiences and discuss theories and critical questions about religions character and persistence in public spaces and local contexts. More information, including student testimonials, sample readings, and lists of past placements can be found on the Religion in the Public Sphere website.
