Rabbit trail to top of Black Mountain (3000 ft elevation). Black Mountain to Montebello Road, Montebello Road to Stevens Creek Reservoir. Stevens Creek Reservoir to Homestead High (100 ft elevation). Round trip: about 27 miles. About 3000 feet elevation gain (and lost). Estimated 4 ½ hours. No food available except start and end. Recommend bringing 2 or 3 granola (kind) bars in pockets. Water available at equestrian parking lot, farm (not immediately en route), northern Stevens Creek Reservoir park, Homestead High, end. Recommend carrying small plastic (cheap) water bottle. Phone/cash recommended. Recommend start early (6:00-7:00), with a latest possible starting time to avoid dark, 12:00 noon.
