I have started my venture named Xovian (xovian.co.in), first private set up in Aerospace & Defence of the country. Our organization is based on the knowledge of embedded system and microprocessors to develop the micro-satellites and other aerospace related equipment. The professionals working in the company have an expertise and knowledge of what they are doing and have a good knowledge of Rocket Science. PROJECTS UNDER XOVIAN • Satellite manufacturing and launching. • Military robotics. • Space debris and mitigation. • Alternative rocket propulsion technique. •3-D printer. • Renewable energy. PROJECT PROPOSAL: Recently we are thinking of taking up two new projects as mentioned below: 1. New and alternative approach for launching satellite into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) using the Railgun coupled levitation and gap system. The railgun coupled levitation and gap system is a new and alternative approach for the launch of nano satellite into the LowEarth Orbit(LEO). This technology being eco-friendly doesn’t affect the dense layer of atmosphere (Troposphere and Stratosphere) compared tothe exhaust gases produced by present day rockets. The high rate of repetition, the reduced launch cost and eco-friendlyfeatures, marks it a more promising field. The railgun coupled levitation and gap system is a combinedapproach of railgun technology, the levitation system and agap. As ecological balance is assuming a lot of importance now adays, it has become necessary to consider the environmentstability.The rail gun coupled levitation & gap system is conceptwhich upgraded the traditional rail gun system with levitation& gap system. Thismethod/technology is not only eco-friendly but alsoeconomical to the present day use of rockets. This technology is far eco-friendly than the useof traditional rockets system. No use of chemical propellantin the lower layer of atmosphere makes it a cleantechnology/green technology. Project duration: about one year. No. of Team members required: 15-20 Concerned branches: ECE, ICE, CHE, ME, EE 2. Electric Field Mill Electric Field Mill, abbreviated as EFM, is a technology widely being used nowadays. Automated Lightning Systems and other such systems are a result of EFM and other such technologies combined in the most efficient manner. Automated Lightning is being used in locations like airports, mining, handling of explosives etc. Automated Lightning Warning Systems make a combinational use of Lightning Detection Information and EFMs. The project will be dealing with the use of EFM in the following applications: a) Cloud-to-groundlightning warnings using electric field mill and lightning measurements. b) Static electricity measurements for lightning warnings. EFM has a working mechanism in which, it detects electrostatic fields and relatively slow changes occurring in that field. Sensors are capable of detecting charge separation in the surroundings, and hence can apply the changes accordingly. In the course, use of EFM will be taught to the students. Its systematic study in conjunction with the CG lightning detection data will be replicated. A common problem of false detection of data leading to a wrong alarm will be detected and worked upon. The algorithms used in the EFM process will be clarified. Project Duration: 3-4 months Team members required: 5-6 Concerned branches: ECE, ICE, CSE, ME The above-mentioned projects require the assistance of young ingenious minds, and for that matter, I would like to consider the students of my own alma mater first. Also, both the projects would welcome a Faculty Advisor to guide the students at each step. The faculty would be required to have expertise in the field of Power Engineering/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering.
