Send race pix on the Twitter app, Ill facebook friend that Jurek chap I know most of the RDs numbers, and the guy who wears the cap I am the very model of a runner so responsible I know a lot of stuff about UTMB and MDS I buy my kit from Lidl, Likeys, Millets or from M&S I quote memes mocking marathons and those extolling running strong My weekend FB posts are all about my joy in running long; Ive read all of the blogs on every distance race Ive ever run, Ive run through awesome scenery and run towards the setting sun Ive chafed in places only running folk quite like to talk about (quite a lot actually) And applied lubricants in public without anyone batting an eye Ive spreadsheets full of split times, calculations and great racing plans Then set off like a scalded cat, blow up and join the also-rans (And Im the guy who posts those spammy ads for dodgy fake Ray-Bans) I am the very model of a runner so responsible In fact when I know whats meant by intervals and progression run When in a few hours I can craft a semi decent running pun Id never bet a future entry on the speed of Alis hat, When I wonder why I bought that never-used compression tat With post-race buzz I enter every bloody race under the sun And then defer or DNS most of them, wondering what Ive done; And when I turn up in a costume looking for a long fun run, Youll say a better ultra runner there has never been.
