“Create an environment in which the sidewalks feel more - TopicsExpress

“Create an environment in which the sidewalks feel more comfortable for pedestrians but also bicyclists to feel more welcome,” said Speck. Park Lane pedestrian mall! Thats what the city residents and voters have been overwhelmingly asking the city to do. Lets build it, shall we? There are only 34 parking spaces along this street. And none (or maybe one?) is a handicapped spot. Lets put 2 or 4 handicapped spots at the intersections and turn the rest of the street into a pedestrian mall. There are literally 100s of public parking spots within 300 yards of Park Lane. This would be an amazing boon for the businesses along Park Lane and it would make downtown Kirkland a write-home-about-it destination for dining and shopping. The Cross Kirkland Corridor opens in October, the 520 bike trail to Seattle will open within the next couple years. Lets start planning for this potential influx of people or else they may bypass Kirkland and just keep on going to Redmond.
