“Crime Advisory – Beware of female thief who hugs & steals from elderly male victims” Between 19 Nov 2013 and 21 Jan 2014, Police have received at least 4 reports of theft reported at housing estates in Holland Avenue, Beach Road, Bedok Drive and Bukit Batok East. In all the cases, the suspect, believed to be a female Chinese aged between 30 and 60, had approached lone elderly male victims at the void decks before leading them to the staircase landings where she would hug or touch the private areas of the male victims before stealing cash from their pockets. As of 21 Jan 2014, a total of $1,970 cash has been stolen. Police would like to remind the public to remain vigilant at all times. They should adopt the following crime prevention measures: 1. Be wary of strangers trying to engage you in conversations; 2. Keep your wallet in your front pocket and do not let anyone fiddle with your belongings; and 3. Do not carry large amount of cash on you.
