Crime is increasing/ trigger happy policing/ panic is spreading/ god knows where..... Were headed! - from the Marvin Gaye song called Inner City Blues from the album whats going on? Released in 1971! This song is over 40 years old and in 40 years these images and ideas that Mr. Gaye painted seem as prevalent today as they were when they were first penned and recorded. I post this as a concerned human being! A human being that has to suffer the burden of being a black man in America! A black man who has to be scared for his nephews and nieces not only for when they make a turn in the wrong neighborhood but also saying something wrong or facing conflict with an authority figure with a badge. On both sides I worry about them and what it means for the world we are surrounded by when still 40 years since a songs inception we remain socially and systematically incapable of being treated like 5/5 of a human being. Walter T. Bond a individual I highly respect and revere illustrated this idea eloquently when he posted a picture of Mike Browns crime scenes and in the caption he wrote, America, land of the free...life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. *Terms and conditions apply*
