Critic David Fricke of Rolling Stone gave it (new U2 album, Songs Of Innocence) five stars, calling it “11 tracks of straightforward rapture about the life-saving joys of music.” Ive never, ever been accused of denigrating anyone for what they like in music. What makes someone happy musically is their own business, and I completely respect it. But this David Fricke quote of Songs of Innocence is strong proof that Fricke is completely irrelevant today, and gives Rolling Stone magazine a bad image as long as this guy is allowed to write stuff like the above quote, quotes usually reserved for classic, great material. Ive long called David Fricke, in serious need of being given the boot.
