Croatia was very special and beautiful. We stayed with some friends in a house close to the water in Rovinj - 90 min south of Trieste. Daily we swam in the Adriatic. Went cycling along the coast (and thru 2 naturist parks). The town reminded me of Italy. Nightly the fishing trawlers would go up and their lights would glimmer on the sea. We were there for there week long festival celebrating their fishing heritage. We became friends with the couple next door. Both were born in the village. They lived in San Francisco for years. He was a chef and then dj of some note in the bay area. Now he runs a little wine/ misc. shop and she a shoe store. He made us a special Croatian meal. I brought back some wine. One was made with mistletoe. A very special trip.
