Crude Apache will be holding an open casting event for its Summer - TopicsExpress

Crude Apache will be holding an open casting event for its Summer Show, Gammer Gurtons Needle, on 16 March 2014, at Dragon Hall, Norwich. The event will start at 1pm with a whole group welcome and warm up, and continue throughout the afternoon. Gammer Gurtons Needle is an early English comedy. It contains earthy, ribald humour and a host of daft, grotesque characters. The document attached to this post tells you more. Parts to be cast are: Diccon - a mischievous, meddling peddlar - this is a singing part Dr Rat - a nervy, twitchy and inexperienced parish priest Bailey - a wise and learned Justice of the Peace Tib the Maid - a housemaid who hates getting her hands dirty Coke the Boy - an eager, naive young lad - this is also a singing part (whoever plays this part will also play a non-speaking role as a servant of BAILEY) There is no reason why females cant play male parts and vice versa. What is most important is that you have a keen sense of the silly. A willingness to sing as part of a group would be helpful, however in the context of this play, volume and gusto is much more important than being a singer. Except for the parts of Diccon and Coke - you do need proper singing ability for those ones. The parts of Gammer, Hodge and Dame Chat are already cast and will be played by Richard Brook, Tim Lane and Amelia May Hursey respectively. The show will run from 1 July to 12 July 2014 and will be performed at a number of outdoor locations around Norwich. Rehearsals start on Sunday 27th April and will be on Sundays and on average 2 weekday evenings per week (schedule to be decided through consultation with the cast) throughout May and June. This being a Crude Apache production, and therefore non-professional, this is a voluntary undertaking. Nobody will be taking a fee, whether they are a member of the cast, the crew or the production team. Please PM Joanna Swan or email me to let me know you are coming. I can supply a copy of the script on request. Also please get in touch if you have any questions. Joannayorke@hotmail
