Cruise Recap - Emerald Princess from Houston, to Roatan Honduras, - TopicsExpress

Cruise Recap - Emerald Princess from Houston, to Roatan Honduras, to Belize City Belize, to Cozumel Mexico, and back to Houston. The Ship itself - The Emerald is a pretty nice ship... layout is good... no major complaints there. Food in the dining rooms was great, food in the Steakhouse was AWESOME (ate there 3 nights), Food in the Horizon Court buffet was pretty much like it is on all the Princess ships.. bleh. Hot tubs were HOT (which is important in Mexico.... unlike in Alaska where they were lukewarm.. LOL). The Destinations - hmmm... well, now that I have been to all three, I never have to go back again. (that should tell you something). - Roatan - the pre-planned excursions were good, but definitely not a place where you decide to just go off-ship and do your own trekking... that place is a SCARY place and I dont recommend leaving the cruise ship village compound without being on a tour. the cruise ship village was cute (the usual diamond and gold shops in every cruise destination around the world) and had a nice beach (with a couple Fat Tuesday bars. - Belize - again, the pre-planned excursions were pretty nice, but the town and community was pretty blah. I really enjoyed the Mayan Temple ruins. You have to tender in and out of Belize because of the shallow water, so that cuts over an hour off of your shore time. - Cozumel - the side of the island where we come in is town and the most exciting thing there is Jimmy Buffets Margartaville (I understand the other side of the island with the resorts is beautiful). The Journey - with this cruise, I could have actually never left the ship and I would have been fine. the staff was awesome, the ship was great, but the people I met were amazing. Made friends with many wonderful people and I hope to keep in touch with many of them. The nightly LGBT Happy Hour was well attended and met some great people there... The nightly late night party crowd in Skywalkers Lounge resulted in some great bonding experiences. And just hanging around the ship resulted in meeting some really cool people who were great to chat with and just made you feel great hanging with them and talking to them. walked off that ship on Sunday morning feeling very melancholy... not because of the destinations that I wanted to visit again (because frankly, never need to go to those places again), but because of the people I met. (there are already discussions among some as to when and where the next cruise will be). Thank you so very much to ALL of you who entered my life in the last 7 days on the Emerald Princess.... you have truly touched my heart.
