The crash happened in the Wagener Terrace neighborhood, near the corner of 5th Street and St. Margaret Street. That corner is a popular spot for walkers and bikers to stop and have a look at the Ashley River. A tow truck promptly responded to the scene and removed the cruiser, which had a muddied front bumper. Our producer on the scene said it appeared the cruiser has just barely dipped into the marsh. It’s unclear which agency the cruiser belonged to. There were no Charleston police or Charleston County sheriff’s deputies on scene. Our producer said she saw a man in a polo shirt being driven away from the scene in a golf cart when she arrived. She also said several Lowndes Grove employees were on scene
