Crystal, I have a metric buttload of friends who are home cooks, they will love this question. . Crystal asked Soooo how many jars of seasoning/spices do you have in your cabinets? Because I seem to have a ton. Trying to play with that cabinet now. Seems to me the more you cook at home , the more spices you will have :-) I have a wooden rack with 21 different [small glass, think McCormick] jars on it. Also, a small cabinet of the large plastic commercial bottles of the spices I use the most. Also, a dedicated area in the pot cabinet for the large commercial jars of the spices [garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, red pepper flake, paprika, dark chili powder, whole black peppercorns, there are 2 more I am to lazy to go look at ] that I use the most. I am thinking 40 jars altogether. That includes the Lawrys, the Slap yo Mama and other spice blends in current use. Not including the ones I have in my store in the basement. Cooks say you should not store spices near the stove. *I* say, Store them there, If you use them a lot, they are convenient. If you dont , then get rid of them/take them out of the rotation. My love of the cooking type friends, can you weigh in? How do you organize/figure out what to keep?
