Cub Scout Pack 37 out of St. Teresas Church on Staten Island is participating in a national fundraiser which I believe is so important and I hope all of you will too. The organization is called Wreaths Across America (WAA). For those of you who have never heard of it, WAA is a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in December. The organization works to spread the message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms, by putting a wreath on every grave at hundreds of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE! Our Cub Scout Pack is sponsoring wreaths for Long Island National Cemetery (the closest National Cemetery to Staten Island). Every $15 gift that you contribute equals one wreath to be placed on a Veterans grave on December 13, 2014 at 12 noon. The wreaths are sent directly to the Cemetery.
