The Daily Dose for June 3, 2014 If you missed todays morning - TopicsExpress

The Daily Dose for June 3, 2014 If you missed todays morning meeting, you missed a timely presentation by our own Temple Terrace police on identity theft. As a coincidence, I was driving through my neighborhood after our meeting, only to see a man on a bicycle rummaging through trash bags. So, I placed a call to the police department, to report my suspicions. They sent a police car over, but by then the man had disappeared. When I told the dispatcher of my suspicions, she responded that once you put your trash out, it is no longer your property and people are free to rumage through it. So, thanks to Steff and Ken, we know to shread anything that has identifying information on it. Some other dos and donts to keep identity thieves at bay: Dont mail checks from your mail box Dont accept phone calls from credit companies or people you dont know Dont use your debit card Do use online banking for bills Do monitor your credit report regularly Do use a credit card Do notify your bank if you notice anything suspicous on your banking statements Upcoming events: June 25 Installation dinner at Yuengling Brewery. Tickets are $25 per person, with all beer you can drink. Dress is business casual, and Perry would like to see Rotarians in their Rotary shirts. June 7 Sailing sendoff for Exchange Scholars at Fort Desoto June 30 Last day to make your donations to the Rotary Foundation for this year To Your Health: Thanks to Dr. Nick Hall, and our educational minute on bacteria. Did you know that your body houses 10 times more bacteria than cells. Our bodies are a complex habitat for bacteria, that are rapidly growing inside us. Think about that next time you are out in the elements, with rats, snakes, and wasps. We might be just as nasty to them as they are to us. None the less, I am thankful that we all came back in one piece after our Neighbor to Neighbor adventure with vermin and bamboo. Cheers, and have a great week! Yours in Rotary Service, Kathleen Hague Armstrong
