Cuckoo directed by Rajumurugan, DOP P.K.Varma, Music Santhosh Narayanan, Editing Shanmugam. Starring Dinesh, Malavika Nair, Murugadoss. Genre: Romantic drama. Story of two visually challenged couple (Tamizh and Kodi) and their cute love life with genuine romance. Cuckoo is basically one of the decent flicks in the recent times, one should be proud to experience such a love story on screen in this era or cultural changes that are happening in and around. Director had portrayed that the life of disabled is really not painful where as they do have a world of happiness. I was bit concerned on not to undergo painful cries of characters just like a famous movie that was released 4 years back about disabled. His way of narration is more like reading a novel, so detailed on each characters. You just cant identify a fault. DOP Varma had really helped in bringing the emotions and to relate to the screen. Also, there wasnt much trolley or crane shots used, most of the shots were simple and neat and yes thats appreciable. If Cuckoo = Colorful, then Varma gets the applause. Santhoshs live music adds more grip. He did not disturb the flow of script at any instance through his RR. His entire work was subtle and not irritating for a movie like this. Though this is a Tamil flick, for someone who belongs to Korea or French this film is really going to be something unique and/or special when screened with sub titles. Dinesh and Malavika had done their job best. However, the screenplay should have framed a bit more interesting if dragging scenes were trimmed. Both first half and second half contains some dragging sequences, especially towards climax. At one point of time, I had to ask come on whats next, move on. I personally felt that instead of too much of dialogues being conversed by lead characters there could have been more action oriented scenes with out dialogues for a next step. Plus: Story itself, Cinematography, Aagasatha song, Dinesh (This chap is definitely going to grab some awards). Just watch this U rated film with family to experience the essence of cute poetic love. Rating: ***1/3* (3.75 Stars)
