NARROWSBURG — “Perhaps in a Dream,” an exhibit of photography by Joe Statuto opens with a reception on Friday, June 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Delaware Arts Center’s Alliance Gallery in Narrowsburg, N.Y. The exhibit will be on view through July 6. The digital photography series “Perhaps in a Dream” is a study in metaphor and symbolism. Artist Joe Statuto was inspired in part by the surreal writings of Jorge Luis Borges in creating these dreamlike, illusory scenes where common objects seem to take on profound meaning. Trained as an oil and watercolor painter, Statuto was drawn to digital photography about 10 years ago because of its particular plasticity. “Applying my knowledge of composition and rendering as a painter, I began to create composite digital images, blending parts of several photographs to create the final images. The digital medium allowed me to create dream-like surreal images that felt right to me,” said Statuto."
