Cumbria Police are warning people of a telephone scam, in which people claim to be from the company Talk Talk to gain access to your computer. Once people have access to your computer, they can then gain access to personal information such as passwords and bank details. According to police, in one case a person from the Carlisle area was called by a person claiming to be from Talk Talk. During the call they were advised that there was a virus on their personal computer and were then talked through how the caller could be given remote access to the computer. They were then asked for their bank details in order to receive a rebate. People are advised to be cautious of anyone that makes contact with them and never to allow someone you do not trust to access personal information on your computer.
