Currently 13 of our alumni are serving in the IDF and we have over 200 alumni living in Israel, a strong testament to our commitment to the centrality of Israel and Zionism as part of Jewish life and learning here at school. Safi ’10 grew up in Israel from age 2 – 13 and attended Barrack while in the states. We recently emailed with him while he is serving in the IDF as a combat medic in the Givati brigade and his rank is staff Sargent. We asked him what motivated him to serve in the IDF and is there anything he would like to share with the community. Safi’s response “I just felt like I wanted to really give back to Israel. Giving a million dollars is simple compared to giving three years of your life and therefore after high school just felt that I had to do it.
